Water Reuse   Our Projects
Our Projects

The water reuse project that Haya Water is now developing is the largest and most ambitious of its kind ever undertaken in the Gulf region. No project of this scale and complexity has ever been undertaken in an established built-up urban area before.

We are using ground breaking technology including what is considered to be the largest Submerged Membrane Bioreactor treatment plant in the world at Al Ansab that came into operation early in 2011.

Already managing 54,000 cubic metres of effluent per day – this will eventually double to over 110,000 cubic metres – or the equivalent of over 40 Olympic size swimming pools daily - as the project continues to grow and connect more and more homes and businesses in Muscat.

Haya Water is laying thousands of kilometres of pipeline to ensure we connect our six major projects that include The overall Muscat water reuse project comprises of six major developments that include Seeb, Bousher, Muscat, Muttrah, Amerat and Quriyat where individual water re-use plants are being constructed. These will then – via a 280km pipeline network – connect to our Al Ansab treatment works where the final processes are undertaken using the membrane bio-reactor plant.

This is a highly planned and phased development and already nearly 20 per cent of the population is now connected and we expect this to reach 60 per cent by the end of 2012 and up to 80 per cent in the following five to six years after that.
